Simple Morning Tips for a Better Day

Our day begins the second that we open our eyes. What we do from that point forward will determine the tone for the rest of our day. These tips are bound to get you up and moving every morning. You will feel good for the rest of your day & it will have you being more positive & all around a happier person, & it is said that morning people are the happiest people, so let’s be happy…shall we?

Start incorporating these 6 easy tips into your everyday morning routine to get that feel-good, nostalgic energy.

Tip #1 - Start at Bedtime

Waking up in the morning feeling refreshed is based on what you do at night & the sleep that you get. Did you party all night & get wasted? Well, you know you aren’t waking up for breakfast at 8 a.m. Did you take care of yourself before you went to bed and calmed your mind to sleep better? If so, you may be up for breakfast at 6 a.m. You won’t ever want to get out of bed if you aren’t forming better bedtime habits. Make sure you are having fuller days because if you are exhausted & your body is tired, then you will be looking forward to that sleep. You have to find time to unplug & relax. Put the phone away at a set time & leave the rest of the night to decompress. Maybe you are feeling stressed & you can’t sleep, try to write it out & leave it on the paper it’s going to be hard to fall asleep if you let your thoughts keep you up. You will sleep much better & wake up feeling ready for a new day if you can let your mind breathe before bed. Yesterday is not today. Everyday is a fresh start.

Tip #2 - Quit Snoozing

Once our eyes open for the day, our body is done resting. This is why you wake up before your alarm sometimes because we have had the amount of sleep that we need, & it is time to get our bodies moving. You will still feel tired whether you wake up at 8 a.m., or snooze till 9 a.m., those extra minutes aren’t going to do anything for you. Your mind has already started its day, and you have to get out of bed at some point, so stop wasting valuable time by forcing yourself to keep sleeping. The second your clock goes off, your day has started.

Tip #3 - No Social Media

Don’t let the first thing that you do every morning is grab your phone. We all do it, & I am guilty of it myself at times, but I don’t let it become a habit. You are likely to see something that will trigger you & set the tone for the rest of the day. Instead of laying down on your phone for 15 minutes, turn on your favorite podcast or YouTube video and go walk for those 15 minutes. If you don't want to do that, get up & start making breakfast, or hop in the shower, or do it all and become superior. Nothing wakes us up more than feeling refreshed, energized, and fueled. Scrolling on social media can lead to lounging around all day & before you know it, it’s 4 p.m. & you haven’t gotten a single task done all day. Challenge yourself to complete all of your morning tasks before picking up your phone.

"Either you run the day, or the day runs you."

Tip #4 - Fuel Your Body

The first thing you should be putting in your body each day is water. Set a glass of water by your bed when you go to sleep, & when you wake up, you’ll have it already there to drink- so simple. This can immediately give you an energy boost and wake you up. You should be incorporating this until you have had your breakfast, and even after that you don’t stop. Water is vital to our body.

With this, you know that breakfast is also vital to our day and also, I said to make breakfast. Your first meal shouldn't be filled with sugar or grease. Figure out what you like that is healthy & start cooking it yourself. This can set better eating habits for the rest of your day. You will feel full longer & it can prevent you from that early morning snacking you’ll be doing 30 minutes later.

Tip #5 - Create a Better Routine

Morning routines are guaranteed to have you looking forward to waking up. You may already have a routine, but add more things that will make you feel better & love your day. Go for that morning walk you always dread, you will thank yourself. Go sit outside & enjoy your coffee & breakfast, or create a skin care routine. I know what you are thinking, if you have to do all of that, you will have to wake up earlier, & that’s harder, right? Good. Being your best self is going to take doing difficult tasks, but when they become a habit, it’s no longer hard. Incorporate greater patterns into your mornings that will set you up to have a good day.

Tip #6 - Journal

You will likely accomplish more in your day if you write down everything that you need to do and set a schedule. Prioritize the most important tasks first & write until you have at least 5 things to complete. If you have more, even better. Make sure you are doing things that have purpose. Don’t incorporate watching Netflix on your list, that will just have you on the couch all day. Set yourself up to be busy, add a little fun. You will feel better knowing you achieved a lot in your day. There is nothing more satisfying than crossing out completed tasks on your list.

Keep in mind:

Just doing these things can set you apart from many people. Give this time to yourself. Your mindset and habits are what will form you to become greater, so what better time to start than the second your eyes open?
